Service Management
Run one service against the system that hosts it: the server it sits on, the credentials of the account, the licence it carries, the limits it was sold with, and the actions that reach the provider without leaving the record behind.
Opening the Screen
Open a service from Orders › Services and pick the Management tab: {admin}/services/detail?id={service}&content=management.
The tab is shown for every non-domain service that has not been cancelled, with or without a module. A cancelled service has nothing left to manage, so the tab is not shown. Opening its address by hand lands on the Details tab instead. A domain never carries it, because a domain is served by Transfer, WHOIS, DNS and Verification instead. What the module changes is the shape of the tab, not its presence: with a module the tab opens as a strip of inner sections, without one it is a plain card stack that still lets you record the server, the credentials and the limits by hand.
What Is on the Screen
Inner Sections
The strip appears only when a module is bound and starts up cleanly. If the module fails to load, the tab reports the error at the top and falls back to the plain card stack.
| Section | What it holds | When it appears |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | The page the module draws for this service: usage figures, its own tools and shortcuts. Fetched after the tab opens, so a spinner sits there for a moment. | Module bound; opens first. |
| Settings | The card stack described below, saved as one form. | Module bound. |
| Preferences | Which of the module's dashboard widgets and tools the client is shown for this one service. | Hosting and server services with a module bound; the list may be empty. Software and other product types never carry it. |
| Metrics | Metered usage: chart, monthly figures, billing history, and the price scheme per metric. | When the service has metrics configured, or when its module declares metrics that can be switched on here. |
Without a module the strip is not drawn at all and the card stack is the whole tab. That is not a fault: it is how a service you provision by hand is recorded.
The Card Stack
The stack is one form with Save Changes at the bottom. Which cards are built depends on the service type and on what the module offers.
Quick Actions
Each entry opens a confirmation window first; the window is where the action is actually sent.
The Metrics Section
One row per metered item, whether the service already carries it or the module merely offers it. A row that is switched off stays in the list, greyed, because its past usage is still billable.
| Column | What it reports |
|---|---|
| Metric | The name of the metered item and the unit it is counted in. |
| Included | How much of it the price already covers. Only what goes above this is charged. |
| Usage | The monthly average of the collected readings, which is the figure billing runs on, not the latest reading. The badge beside it counts the readings behind that average. With nothing collected yet the cell is a dash. |
| Cost | What the part above the included amount comes to under this metric's own price scheme, in the service currency. |
| Status | Whether the metric is switched on, so whether new readings are collected for it. |
| Last Updated | When the last reading was recorded. |
Each row carries its own menu:
Fields
Tasks
Resetting the password on the server
- Open the Settings section and find Reset Password in the Quick Actions card.
- The Reset Password window opens with a generated password in New Password; keep it or type your own, and decide on Send Notification.
- Confirm with Reset Password at the bottom of the window. The module changes the password on the server, the stored value is rewritten to match, and the client is mailed if you left the box ticked.
Opening the client's control panel
- Open the Settings section and go to Control Panel Access at the foot of the Access Details card.
- Press Login to Control Panel. The row is only built when the module can open a session; without it, sign in with the credentials above instead.
- The module prepares the session and the panel opens in a new tab, with no password prompt. Login to Root Panel under Root Access does the same for the server itself.
Giving one service its own limits
- Open the Settings section and find the Limits card. On a hosting service with a module bound, the banner there says whether the module can apply a change to the server; a server type, and a hosting service with no module, are drawn without it.
- Turn on Override Product Limits. The boxes below unlock; leave one empty, or tick Unlimited beside it, for no limit.
- Press Save Changes. Where the module supports it the new figures are sent to the server; where it does not, they are kept as a record only.
Hiding a module feature from the client
- Open the Preferences section, which lists the module's dashboard widgets and tools for this service.
- Switch off the entries the client should not reach. An item already closed at server level carries a Server badge and cannot be switched back on here.
- Press Save Changes under the list. The client area drops the hidden entries on its next page load.
Things to Watch
Editing Password in Access Details only corrects the copy WISECP keeps, which is what you want after someone changed it on the panel directly. To change the real one, use Reset Password in Quick Actions. Getting this backwards leaves the record and the server disagreeing, and the client is locked out.
Reinstall deletes the account and builds it again, Cancel removes it. Neither is a local record and neither can be undone from here. Moving the service to another server does not migrate anything either: the record follows the picker, the data does not.
Usage collected while the metric was on is still invoiced when the period closes, so switching it off stops the meter, not the bill. It also works the other way round: once a metric invoice passes its due date unpaid, automation switches that metric off by itself, and while any metric invoice on the service stays unpaid the client cannot switch a single metric back on, not even a different one. Paying the invoice lifts that lock; from this panel you can switch a metric on at any time.
No Preferences means this is not a hosting or server service with a module bound, no Metrics means neither the service nor its module carries a metered item, and an empty Integration Settings is the module saying it has nothing to configure here. Check the module log before assuming the service is broken.
Required Privileges
Opening the service, and with it this tab, needs SERVICES_LOOK or SERVICES_OPERATION. Saving the card stack, running any quick action, moving the service to another server and editing a metric all need SERVICES_OPERATION.
Login to Root Panel is the exception: it is offered only to staff who also carry the separate root login privilege, so a colleague who can read the tab does not automatically get the server itself.
