Every comment left on your blog articles, in one queue: read it, publish it, mark it as spam or remove it.

Opening the Screen

Choose Site Management › Blog from the menu, then click the Comments button above the article list. The direct address is {admin}/manage-website/blogs/comments. The badge on the menu entry and on the button counts the comments still waiting for review.

What Is on the Screen

A toolbar above, the queue below. On a narrow screen the toolbar folds away behind the Show Options button. When nothing matches, the list reads No comments yet.

The list

One row per comment, newest first. Comment holds the author's name and the opening of the message, and both open the comment window. A red dot in front of the name marks a comment nobody has opened yet. A Reply badge marks an answer to another comment, a Staff badge one posted under your staff identity.

Article opens the article on your site in a new tab. With no title, the column shows a # and the record number. A deleted article leaves the link pointing nowhere. Status shows where the comment stands, and Date can be sorted. The menu at the end of the row carries View / Manage, Approve, Mark as Spam and Delete. A moderation entry drops out once the comment already carries that status.

Above the queue sit the search box, matching the comment text and the author's name, and the page-size menu. The download button beside them writes the list to a CSV, JSON or XML file, and asks for the table export privilege.

Statuses

Pending Review Waiting for you. The comment is not on the article yet.

Approved Published under the article on your site.

Spam Kept out of the article, with the record still here for later reference.

Trash Offered by the status filter, but no action on this screen moves a comment here.

The comment window

Opening a comment marks it as read. The window gathers the author, the e-mail address, the status, the IP address, the date and a link to the article. When the comment is a reply, the parent's name and message sit above it in a quoted block. The message itself can be edited. Three or four buttons close the window: Delete, Approve, Mark as Spam and Save. The button for the status the comment already carries is left out here too.

Fields

All Statuses Narrows the queue to one status. Optional; left alone it shows every comment. The choice stays in the address, so a narrowed queue can be bookmarked.

Apply to Selected Runs Approve, Mark as Spam or Delete on the ticked rows. Optional, and it returns to empty after every run.

Comment The message text inside the comment window. Required: saving an empty box ends with a warning.

Tasks

Review a comment

Click the author's name or the excerpt to open the comment window.
Read the message, and the quoted block above it when the comment is a reply.
Click Approve to publish it, or Mark as Spam to keep it off the article.
The window closes and the row carries its new status.

Correct the wording

Open the comment window from the row.
Change the text in the Comment box.
Click the Save button at the bottom of the window.
The queue reloads with the corrected excerpt; the status is untouched.

Moderate several at once

Tick the rows you want, or the box in the header to take the whole page.
Choose the action under Apply to Selected. Approve and Mark as Spam run at once.
Delete opens a confirmation window; with two or more rows you also type your own panel password.
The queue reloads and the rows carry their new status.

Things to Watch

Deleting takes the replies with it

Removing a comment also removes every reply written under it, and neither comes back. When you want to keep the record, mark it as spam instead.

Where the queue comes from

Comments arrive from the blog articles on your site. A new one lands as Pending Review or goes straight to Approved. The comment system settings on the Blog article list make that call. A comment left while an admin session is open is approved right away.

Spam is not deletion

A comment marked as spam leaves the article but keeps its row here. You can read it again later and approve it if the call was wrong.

Required Privileges

Opening the queue needs one of the Site Management privileges. Opening a comment, approving it, marking it as spam and saving an edit need MANAGE_WEBSITE_OPERATION. Deleting needs MANAGE_WEBSITE_DELETE, which also governs the tick boxes and the delete entry in the row menu.
