Creating a Slider

Build the slides that run at the top of your site: one picture, its wording in every language, and the address the slide's button opens.

Opening the Screen

Panel menu: Site Management, then Sliders, then the Create Slider button above the list: {admin}/manage-website/slides/add

An existing slide opens in the same form from the list's Edit action: {admin}/manage-website/slides/edit?id={slide}

What Is on the Screen

A language strip, and one form under it.

Language strip A flag and a code for every active language. Your site's own language is selected first.

Wording Title, description, URL and button text. Every language keeps its own.

Shared settings Sort order, status, picture and video. One value serves every language.

The button at the end Create on a new slide, Save on one you are editing.

Choosing another language swaps the four wording fields. The shared settings belong to the tab the screen opens with and leave the screen with it, keeping everything you gave them.

Fields

Title The headline of the slide, per language. Optional.

Description The lines under the title, per language. Plain text, optional.

URL The address the slide's button opens. Optional, and each language may point somewhere else. Leave it empty and the slide carries no button.

Button Text The wording on the slide's button, which the visitor sees only when the URL is filled in. Left empty, the theme uses its own default.

Sort Order Position in the slider, smallest number first. Empty counts as zero, which puts the slide at the front.

Status Active from the start. Only active slides reach the site, and only where your theme carries a slider section.

Slider Image Required on a new slide. The camera button opens the file picker and the preview changes at once. Your file is scaled to 1920 pixels wide.

Slider Video (optional) An MP4 of at most 50 MB, which the theme can play on the slide. It does not stand in for the picture.

Tasks

Add a slide

Click Create Slider above the list, then the camera button on Slider Image to choose the picture.
Fill in the title, description, URL and button text. Change the language on the strip and fill them in again.
Give a Sort Order, leave Status ticked and click Create.
The list opens again with the new slide on it. Where your theme carries a slider section, the site shows the slide in the position you gave.

Replace the picture of a slide

Open the slide with Edit, click the camera button and choose the new file.
Click Save.
The new picture takes over and the old file leaves the server.

Remove the video

Open the slide with Edit. A red button waits under the video player.
Click it and confirm.
The player empties and the file leaves the server. The slide keeps its picture.

Things to Watch

A new slide needs a picture

Without one the form refuses to save, and a video does not stand in for it. Editing is different: leave the picker alone and the current picture stays.

Old media leaves the server

Saving over a picture and removing a video both delete the file for good. Keep your own copy; the panel cannot bring it back.

An empty language stays empty

Saving writes a row for every active language, including the ones you left blank, so a visitor on that language sees the slide with no heading at all. Fill the title in for every language. The fallback to another language only applies to languages added to the installation after the slide was created.

Required Privileges

Opening this screen, saving on it and removing the video all need MANAGE_WEBSITE_OPERATION.
