Notification Queue
Every e-mail and SMS the panel sends waits here first: you see what went out, what failed, and send it again.
Opening the Screen
Choose Tools › Notification Queue from the menu, or open {admin}/tools/notification-queue directly.
What Is on the Screen
Five figures at the top, a toolbar under them, and the notification list. The figures refresh every few seconds. When one of them changes, the list reloads on its own.
The figures
The list
A row carries the channel, the recipient, the subject, the creation time, the attempts against the limit, and the status. A message going to many addresses at once shows a Bulk Send badge with the count. The first few addresses sit under it. An SMS has no subject, so that column shows the beginning of the message instead. The search box above the list covers the recipient, the name and the subject. Where your account may download listed data, the download button next to it exports the filtered list. The menu at the end of a row holds that item's actions.
The detail window
View opens the whole record in two cards. One holds the channel, status, recipient, attempts and priority. The other holds the subject, the client, the created, processed and next retry times, and the batch. An SMS has no subject, so that line is left out for the whole SMS channel. The process log sits at the bottom with the answer of each attempt.
Fields
The two filters sit in the toolbar. They combine, and they stay in the address, so a narrowed list can be shared.
Tasks
Send one now
- Open the row menu on a pending item and choose Run Now.
- The message goes to the provider at once instead of waiting for the cron.
- The row moves to sent, or to failed with the reason in its process log.
Retry failed items
- Retry in the row menu puts a failed item back in the queue after a confirmation.
- For several at once, tick the rows and choose Retry under Apply to Selected.
- Retry All Failed takes every failed item in one go. The button is off while the failed figure is zero.
- Rows that are neither pending nor failed stay out of a bulk retry.
Clear sent items
- Click Clear Sent and confirm. The button is off while the sent figure is zero.
- Every sent record leaves the queue. The messages themselves had already been delivered.
Delete items
- For a single item use Delete in the row menu. For several, tick the rows and choose Delete under Apply to Selected.
- Deleting more than one row asks for your own password before it runs.
- An item that is being processed stays where it is.
Things to Watch
Deleting a pending row drops the message for good and nothing reaches the client. Where the message still has to go out, retry it instead.
The item goes to the mail or SMS provider straight away and the client receives it. This is not a test send, and a retry sends the message a second time.
Sent and failed items are removed after the retention period set on the Automation screen. The e-mail and SMS logs keep the longer history, including the message body.
While no SMS module is selected under Settings › SMS, SMS notifications are not queued at all. Nothing waits here and nothing fails; the e-mail copy of the same notification still goes out. The same rule applies to e-mail when no mail module is selected. Bulk sends refuse such a channel with a "module not configured" message.
Required Privileges
The screen, the sends, the retries and the deletions need TOOLS_NOTIFICATION_QUEUE. Without it the page answers Access Denied. The download button in the list header follows the panel-wide TABLE_EXPORT instead; an account without that privilege never sees the button.
