Editing a Product

91 Aufrufe Markdown

Editing a Product is where you configure everything about a product or service you sell, from its name and pricing to server automation and add-ons, across a set of tabs on one screen.

Opening the Screen

Go to Products, open a product group (Hosting, Server, Software, and so on), then click the product's name in the list, or open its row menu and choose Edit.

Direct address: {admin}/products/edit?id={product}

To land on a specific tab right away, add &configuration={tab} to the address, for example {admin}/products/edit?id={product}&configuration=pricing opens Pricing.

What Is on the Screen

The header shows the product's name (with its language code) and a breadcrumb back to its group. The tab bar below it holds every configuration area:

  • Detail: the product's name, type, group, category, icon, and visibility settings. For the Software type, three more sub-tabs appear here: Descriptions, Images, and Feature Blocks.
  • Automation: which server module runs this product, server or server group selection, automatic setup, and resource limits.
  • Addons: the add-on products offered alongside this one.
  • Requirements: the information fields clients must fill in when ordering.
  • Upgrading: the other products offered as an upgrade path from this one.
  • Free Domain: whether a free domain registration or transfer comes with this product.
  • Other: subdomain options, affiliate commission, client-to-client transfer, delivery information, the product image, and an external purchase link.
  • Licensing (Software only): domain-based or license-key-based licensing, and the key format.
  • License Transfer (Software only): lets clients transfer a license to another client; a separately purchased feature.
  • Linked Services: the services already sold from this product.
  • Pricing: cycle-based prices, metric (usage-based) pricing, and sales settings such as tax, prorated billing, and auto termination.

Every tab belongs to the same form. A single Save button sits at the bottom of the page and stays there no matter which tab is open.

Tasks

Save Your Changes

Edit the fields on any tab, switch to as many other tabs as you like, and keep editing; nothing is saved on its own. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

Result: every tab's changes are saved together, and a "The changes were saved successfully." message appears.

Change the Product Type

On the Detail tab, pick a different card under Product Type, then save.

Result: the page reloads, and tabs specific to the new type, such as Licensing and License Transfer for Software, appear or disappear.

Create a New Addon or Requirement

Open the Addons or Requirements tab and click Create New Addon or Create New Product Requirement below the list.

Result: the creation screen opens in a new tab. Once you save it, the new addon or requirement becomes available to pick here.

Things to Watch

One Form, One Save

All tabs belong to the same form. Save applies every tab's changes at once; no tab has its own save button.

License Transfer Needs a Separate Purchase

The License Transfer tab only shows a promotional page until the add-on is purchased from the WManage marketplace. Its settings stay hidden until then.

Changing the Type Reloads the Page

Saving a new Product Type reloads the screen so type-specific tabs, like Licensing and License Transfer for Software, can appear or disappear.
