Agreements
Keep your legal texts in one list and tell the site which page stands for privacy, terms of service and cookies.
Opening the Screen
Go to Site Management › Agreements: {admin}/manage-website/contracts. The Agreements button on the page list leads here as well.
Unlike the other content lists, this screen opens only for staff with the site management edit permission.
What Is on the Screen
Three parts: the action bar, the table of agreement pages, and a settings window behind the Settings button.
The Action Bar
On a narrow screen the bar is folded away; open it with Show Options under the page title.
Apply to Selected acts on the rows you tick and offers one action, Delete. Create Contract opens the empty agreement form. Settings opens the window described below.
The Table Columns
The newest agreement comes first and that order stays; no column header sorts the list.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Selection box | Ticks the row for the bulk action. Needs the delete permission. |
| Title | The title in the panel language, cut to fifty characters. Hover for the whole title. |
| URL | The public address of the agreement. Opens the live page in a new tab. |
| Created | When the agreement was added, as elapsed time. Hover for the exact moment. |
| Row menu | Three-dot button: Edit opens the agreement, Delete needs the delete permission. |
The strip above the table carries the rest. Show Records sets the page size, and the search box narrows the list by what you type, matching anywhere in the row.
The Settings Window
This window matches each legal type to one of the pages in the list.
Each list offers the agreements you have written, plus a Not Selected entry that leaves the type unassigned. Where the chosen page then shows up depends on the theme: in the themes shipped with the product the privacy page is linked from the newsletter and blog subscription consent lines and from the personal-data consent in the customer account, and the cookie page is linked from the cookie notice bar. Click Save at the bottom of the window to apply your choice.
Downloading the List
The download arrow sits at the right end of the table strip and appears for staff holding the table export permission. It offers CSV, JSON and XML.
Controls
Tasks
Choosing the page for a legal type
- Write the agreement first with Create Contract, or find it in the list.
- Click Settings in the action bar. The Contract Settings window opens.
- Pick your page in Privacy Policy, Terms of Service or Cookie Policy.
- Click the Save button at the bottom of the window. Every consent line and notice bar that uses that legal type now points at your page.
Changing an agreement
- Find the agreement with the search box above the table.
- Open the three-dot menu at the end of its row and choose Edit.
- The form opens with the current text. Saving replaces what visitors read from that moment on.
Deleting agreements
- For one agreement, open the three-dot menu at the end of its row and choose Delete.
- For several, tick them in the first column, then choose Delete from Apply to Selected.
- With more than one selected the window asks for your own admin password. Type it, then click the Delete button in the window footer.
- The rows leave the list, together with their translations and uploaded images.
Things to Watch
Delete removes the agreement and all its translations. Legal texts your customers have already accepted are worth keeping, so edit them rather than replacing the record.
The three lists keep pointing at the page you picked. After deleting an assigned agreement, open Settings and choose another page.
The page you pick here is the one the cookie notice links to. Changing it moves that link too.
Required Privileges
The whole screen needs MANAGE_WEBSITE_OPERATION, which also covers creating agreements and saving the settings window. Ticking rows and deleting need MANAGE_WEBSITE_DELETE: without it the selection column and the Delete entry never appear, though the Apply to Selected list stays on the bar with no row left to tick.
