Creating Domain Documentation

96 Aufrufe Markdown

Define the documents or information a domain extension needs from clients before you can register it. Add the instructions that explain what to submit.

Opening the Screen

Open this form from Domain Documentation. Click Create Documentation for a new extension, or open a row's menu and click Edit for an existing one. The addresses are {admin}/products/domain/docs/add and {admin}/products/domain/docs/edit?tld={extension}.

What Is on the Screen

A language tab strip lets you fill every field in more than one language. The Required Documents card lists each document or information item you ask for. Each row has a name, a type, and a drag handle to reorder it. The Instructions card holds a message shown to the client while they order the domain.

Fields

Domain ExtensionThe extension this requirement applies to, without the leading dot. Required, and it can't match an extension that already has a requirement.
Required DocumentsOne row per document or information item. Each row has a name and a type: Info, File, or Select Box. A File row also asks for allowed extensions and a maximum size in MB. A Select Box row lets you add named options.
InstructionsThe message explaining what the client needs to submit. It appears in the client's Order Detail page.

Tasks

Adding a Document or Information Item

Click Add under Required Documents. Enter its name in your primary language, then choose its type. Other languages are optional; in one you leave blank, the client sees the primary-language name.

Setting Up File and Select Box Types

For a File type, enter the allowed extensions and the maximum size in MB. For a Select Box type, click Add Option for each choice and name it in your primary language.

Reordering or Removing an Item

Drag an item by its handle to change its order. Click its trash icon to remove it; at least one item must remain.

Writing the Client Instructions

Fill in Instructions for each language. Clients see this text on their domain order's detail page, next to the documents they need to submit.

Saving the Requirement

Enter the Domain Extension, then click Create for a new requirement or Save Changes if you opened it for editing.

Things to Watch

One Requirement per Extension

You can't create a second requirement for an extension that already has one. Edit the existing one instead.

Renaming the Extension Moves the Requirement

Changing Domain Extension while editing moves this requirement to the new extension.

At Least One Document Is Required

The remove button on the last remaining document row is disabled. A requirement always needs at least one item.

Closing a Language Tab Removes Its Text

The language strip opens with your primary language plus any language the requirement already has text in. Other installed languages are added with the + button. Closing a language's tab and saving removes that language's document names and instructions.

Required Privileges

  • PRODUCTS_LOOK or PRODUCTS_GROUP_LOOK: open the screen.
  • PRODUCTS_OPERATION: create or save a requirement.
