Prohibited List refuses sign-ups and purchases that use a banned domain, e-mail address, phone number, or word, and also lists the IP addresses currently blocked from reaching the site.

Opening the Screen

It opens from Settings › Security. On the tab strip at the top of the page, select the Prohibited List tab: {admin}/settings/security?general=prohibitedList

What Is on the Screen

An info banner explains the idea. These lists stop a sign-up or a purchase at the source. A request carrying a banned domain, e-mail address, phone number, or word is refused. The blocked IP addresses further down the page work differently: those never reach the site at all.

Block Disposable Email Services A single switch above the lists that blocks the widely used disposable e-mail services on its own. If a particular service is not covered, add its domain to the Domain List instead.

Domain / Email / Phone / Word Four lists switched by a strip of buttons, each carrying a count badge. Only one list's box is shown at a time; the others keep their entries in the background.

Blocked IP Addresses A table of addresses blocked from an IP details dialog elsewhere in the panel, or by a contact message reported as spam. Each row also shows who blocked the address (an administrator's name, or System for automatic blocks) and the reason. Visible only with the Security Settings privilege.

Fields

Block Disposable Email Services Blocks the widely used disposable e-mail services with no setup needed.

Domain List Domains prohibited from account creation and service purchases. One entry per line.

Email List E-mail addresses prohibited for account creation and update. One entry per line.

Phone List Phone numbers prohibited for account creation and update. One entry per line.

Word List Words prohibited for account creation and update, and for service purchases (for example, a competitor's name or an obviously fraudulent term). One entry per line.

Tasks

Add an entry to a list

Pick Domain, Email, Phone, or Word from the strip above the box.
Add the entry on its own line in the box.
Save. The count badge on the strip updates as you type.

Block disposable e-mail services

Switch on Block Disposable Email Services.
Save.
Sign-ups and updates using a widely known disposable address are refused, with no entry needed in the Domain List.

Remove a blocked IP address

In the Blocked IP Addresses table, open the row's action menu.
Choose Remove block and confirm.
The address can reach the site again.

Things to Watch

The four lists and the blocked IPs work at different moments

Domain, Email, Phone, and Word are checked only when a sign-up or a purchase is submitted. A blocked IP address is stopped before that: it cannot reach the site at all. You cannot add an IP here; addresses only arrive from an IP details dialog or a spam report, and this table can only remove them.

This Word List is separate from the one on Spam Protection

The Word List here blocks sign-ups and purchases. The Blocked Keywords list on the Spam Protection tab rejects guest submissions instead. Adding a word to one does not add it to the other.

Required Privileges

Saving the lists, and viewing or unblocking addresses in Blocked IP Addresses, need SECURITY_SETTINGS.

Exporting the Blocked IP Addresses table needs TABLE_EXPORT.
