Sliders
The slider set on your site's home page, in one list: add a new slider, open an existing one for changes, or remove the ones you no longer show.
Opening the Screen
Choose Site Management › Sliders from the menu, or open {admin}/manage-website/slides directly.
What Is on the Screen
A short toolbar and the list of sliders. On a narrow screen the toolbar folds away behind the Show Options button.
The list
One row per slider, newest first. Title is the heading of the slider in the language you are working in. URL is the address it links to, and Created is the day it was added. A full web address appears as a link and opens in a new tab. The menu at the end of the row carries Edit and Delete.
Above the list sit the search box, which matches the title, and the page-size menu. The download button next to them writes the whole list to a CSV, JSON or XML file. It appears only when your account carries the table export privilege.
Fields
Tasks
Add a slider
- Click the Create Slider button in the toolbar.
- Fill in the form and save it.
- The new slider takes the top row of the list. It reaches the site when you left Status ticked and your theme carries a slider section.
Change a slider
- Open the menu at the end of the row and choose Edit.
- Change what you need, then save.
- The list keeps its order; only the row you touched carries the new title.
Delete sliders
- For a single slider, open the row menu and choose Delete.
- For several, tick the rows and choose Delete under Apply to Selected.
- Read the confirmation window. With two or more rows you also type your own panel password.
- Confirm; the rows leave the list, and any slider that was showing on the site goes with them.
Things to Watch
The record, its text in every language, the uploaded image and the video file all go together. There is no recycle bin behind this screen.
Each slider keeps its own text per language. When a slider has no text in the language you are using, the list falls back to another language, so a title may look untranslated here.
A slider saved with Status unticked stays in the list and never reaches the site. The list has no status column, so open a row with Edit to see where its slider stands.
Required Privileges
Opening the list needs one of the Site Management privileges. Creating and editing a slider need MANAGE_WEBSITE_OPERATION. Deleting needs MANAGE_WEBSITE_DELETE; without it the tick boxes and the delete entry stay hidden. The download button asks for TABLE_EXPORT, a privilege of its own outside the Site Management group.
