General Settings Overview

General Settings is the tabbed screen where you manage your site's company details, search-engine text, regional defaults, client registration rules, URL structure, API access, and social sign-in.

Opening the Screen

Open Settings, then select General. The screen also opens directly at:

{admin}/settings

Each tab below has its own address, so you can bookmark or share a link straight to it: add ?general=basic, ?general=seo, or ?general=localisation to the address above.

What Is on the Screen

A row of tabs sits at the top of the page. Which ones you see depends on your privileges.

Basic: company details, contact channels, the contact form and map, and social links.
SEO: the title, keywords, and description search engines show for your site.
Localization: default language, currency, country, date format, time zone, and location detection.
Clients: sign-in and registration switches, and custom registration fields.
Permalinks: the site's URL structure and the wording of built-in URL segments.
API: Admin API and Client API credentials, and API request logs.
Social Sign-in: sign-in through providers such as Google. Only shown once a provider is set up.
Advanced: cart, coupon, cache, and other site-wide switches, plus starting ID numbers.

Most tabs hold a single form with its own Save button. API and Social Sign-in work a little differently: API lists credentials in a table with its own create and delete actions, and Social Sign-in lists one provider at a time.

Switching Between Tabs

Click a tab to open its content. The page address updates to match, so refreshing the page or sharing the link returns to the same tab.

Things to Watch

Saving one tab does not save the others

Basic, SEO, Localization, Clients, Permalinks, and Advanced each submit their own form. If you edit fields on two of these tabs before saving, only the tab whose Save button you click is stored.

Some tabs need their own permission

An admin account only sees the tabs that match its assigned privileges; the rest are left out of the tab row entirely.

SETTINGS_INFORMATIONS_CONFIGURE: required to open this screen at all, and covers the Basic tab.
SETTINGS_SEO_CONFIGURE: required for the SEO and Permalinks tabs.
SETTINGS_LOCALIZATION_CONFIGURE: required for the Localization tab.
SETTINGS_MEMBERSHIP_CONFIGURE: required for the Clients tab.
SETTINGS_API_CREDENTIALS: required for the API tab.
SETTINGS_OTHER_CONFIGURE: required for the Advanced tab.
