Server Groups

Group servers that share the same automation module so new accounts spread across them by themselves, either by the lowest load or in turn.

Opening the Screen

From Server Settings (Server Management), click Server Groups: {admin}/products/servers/groups.

A group only balances new accounts; it never moves a service already installed on a server. Point a hosting or server product at the group from that product's own automation settings.

What Is on the Screen

Columns and the Row Menu

Group Name links to the group's edit screen. Distribution Type describes how the group places new accounts (see Creating a Server Group for the two methods). Servers counts the servers currently assigned. Each row ends with a three dot menu holding Edit and Delete; Apply to Selected in the toolbar offers only Delete for ticked rows, since a group has no active or inactive state of its own. The download icon in the toolbar offers the filtered list as CSV, JSON or XML.

Creating a Group

1. Click Create New Group above the list.
2. Continue in Creating a Server Group.

Deleting a Group

1. Open a row's three dot menu and choose Delete, or tick several rows and choose Delete from Apply to Selected.
2. Confirm in the window; deleting more than one group asks for your admin password.
3. Deletion is refused while a product still assigns services to the group. Move that product to another group or a single server first.

Things to Watch

Required Privileges

Opening the screen and every action on it, deleting included, needs Server Settings (MODULES_SERVERS_SETTINGS). Downloading the list additionally needs the export privilege; without it the download icon does not appear.
