Page Backgrounds

93 vues Markdown

Give each type of page on your website its own header background, instead of the one image every page shares by default.

Opening the Screen

Choose Settings › Theme/Customization from the menu, then open the Backgrounds tab: {admin}/settings/theme?group=backgrounds

What Is on the Screen

A grid of tiles, one for every page type your installation can show a header background on. Each tile shows the image currently in use, or the shared default background if none has been uploaded for that page type. Hover over a tile to reveal its camera and trash icons for uploading or resetting the image. Uploaded images are resized to a width of 1920 pixels, so a high-resolution source - at least 1900 × 600 - keeps the result sharp. These backgrounds are not used by the WClient theme.

Tasks

Upload or replace a background

  1. On the tile for the page type you want, click the camera icon and pick an image file.
  2. The tile shows a preview of your choice right away.
  3. Click Save Changes at the bottom. Every tile you changed is uploaded together.

Reset a background to the default

  1. On the tile you want to reset, click the trash icon.
  2. The tile reverts to the shared default image immediately - there is no confirmation step and no separate save.

Things to Watch

A failed upload does not undo earlier tiles

Tiles are uploaded one at a time when you click Save Changes. If one image fails - wrong format or too large - the request stops with an error. But any tile earlier in the grid has already been saved. After you fix the failing file, check which tiles actually changed instead of assuming nothing was saved.

Resetting removes the uploaded file at once

The trash icon does not ask for confirmation. It deletes the custom image straight away and shows the shared default in its place; upload it again if you want it back.

The WClient theme does not use these images

If your installation runs on the WClient theme, uploading backgrounds here has no visible effect there.

Required Privileges

Opening the Theme/Customization page needs SETTINGS_THEME_CONFIGURE. The Backgrounds tab itself - seeing it, uploading images and resetting them - additionally needs SETTINGS_BACKGROUNDS_CONFIGURE; without it the tab does not appear at all.
