Clients (By Language)

94 vues Markdown

Clients (By Language) counts your clients by the language recorded on their account, so you can see which languages your content and your support have to cover.

Opening the Screen

Select WAnalytics in the sidebar, then open Clients and By Language on the report rail at the left. The direct address is {admin}/wanalytics/clients/by-language.

What Is on the Screen

The report header carries the report name, an info icon and the PDF button. Hover the info icon for a one line reminder of what the report is for. There is no period control here: the report always shows the current state of all clients.

  • Figure rail: the number of clients and the number of languages.
  • Top Languages: a ranked list, largest first, with a count and a share on every row.
  • Clients (By Language): the language list, with a search box, a download button and a per page selector.

Fields

Figures

Clients
How many clients carry a language on their account.
Languages
How many separate languages those clients use.

Ranked list

Under Top Languages every row shows the language name, the client count, the share and a bar as wide as that share. The row order is the answer here: the language at the top is the one your written material has to serve first.

List columns

Language
The language name, with a flag when there is one for it. A globe icon is shown when there is not.
Clients
How many clients use that language. The list arrives sorted by this column, largest first, and the heading reverses the order.
Share
The share of that language in the list, to one decimal.
Search box
Optional. Matches the language name shown in the column, such as Turkish or English.

Tasks

Read the split

  1. Compare the top rows of Top Languages. The bar behind each row is as wide as that language's share.
  2. Check the Languages figure against your installed languages. A language nobody uses is a candidate for retirement.

Find a language in the list

  1. Type the language name as it appears in the column into the search box above the list, for example German.
  2. The rows and the record count are refreshed. Clear the box to bring every language back.

Take the report out of the panel

  1. Click the PDF button in the report header to save the figures and the visible rows as a document.
  2. Click the download button above the list, then pick CSV, JSON or XML to save the rows as a file.

Things to Watch

Clients with no language are missing

A client whose account carries no language is left out of the figures, the ranked list and the list. So the client count here can be lower than your total client count.

The search matches the column

The search box looks at the text in the row, not the language code. Type Turkish rather than tr, otherwise the list comes back empty.

What the file holds

Every row matching the current search is written, not only the page you see. Sorting is kept and paging is dropped.
