Set the default language, currency, country, date format, time zone, and the service used to detect a visitor's location.

Opening the Screen

Open Settings › General, then choose the Localization tab: {admin}/settings?general=localisation

What Is on the Screen

One form groups language and region defaults, display formats, and location detection under a single Save button.

Fields

Default Opening LanguageThe language a visitor sees first. With Auto Detect, the language is chosen from the visitor's browser language setting instead.

Default LanguageThe panel's primary language. It's the one language whose tab is always open on multi-language fields across the panel. Its value can still be left empty, like any other language.

Default CurrencyThe currency you operate in. It becomes the site's base currency, with an exchange rate of 1.

Default CountryThe country you operate in.

Date FormatHow dates are shown in the panel and on the site. This changes the display only, not how dates are stored.

Time ZoneThe time zone used for dates and times in the panel and on the site.

IP Location ModuleThe service used to detect a visitor's location. Selecting one shows that module's own settings below it, if it has any.

Tasks

Set your regional defaults

Open Settings › General › Localization.
Choose the Default Opening Language, Default Language, Default Currency, Default Country, Date Format, and Time Zone you want.
Click Save. The panel and site apply the new values right away.

Things to Watch

Changing the currency resets exchange rates

The currency you pick becomes the base currency (rate 1), and every other currency's rate is recalculated against it.

Country affects national ID verification

The default country also seeds the country on new client records and preselects it on address forms. It does not switch any Clients tab field on or off: those fields follow their own switches and apply to every client regardless of country.

Default Language sets which language is required elsewhere

Multi-language fields on other tabs, such as Basic and SEO, always require this language; every other language stays optional.

Required Privileges

Opening Settings › General needs SETTINGS_INFORMATIONS_CONFIGURE. Viewing and saving the Localization tab additionally needs SETTINGS_LOCALIZATION_CONFIGURE.
