Creating a Blog Article
Write a blog article, file it under a category, and mail it to your newsletter subscribers in the same step.
Reaching the Screen
Panel menu: Site Management, then Blog. Above the list, click Create Article.
{admin}/manage-website/blogs/add
What Is on the Screen
The page form, plus the category and newsletter settings that only articles carry.
The language tabs
The tabs choose which language you are writing. Title, Link Structure, Content and the SEO boxes hold one value per language.
The category, the images and Hide Sidebar are shared by every language, so they appear on the default language tab only.
The category
Category lists the blog categories you have created, with None at the top. An article filed under a category shows up in that category's listing.
Categories come from their own screen. With none created, the list offers None alone.
The newsletter box
Notify newsletter subscribers mails this article to everyone on your newsletter list. It appears while you are creating the article, not later.
The mails leave in the background, so the save itself finishes at once.
The web address
Link Structure shows the address the article will get, and follows the title as you type. The pencil button lets you rewrite the bold part.
The panel checks the address and warns you when another page already holds it.
Fields
Tasks
Write and publish the article
- Fill in Title and Content on the first language tab.
- Open each remaining tab and write the same article there.
- Back on the default tab, pick a Category and click Create. The article is saved as active and the article list opens.
Mail it to subscribers
- Go to the default language tab.
- Tick Notify newsletter subscribers before saving.
- Click Create. Subscribers receive the article by e-mail shortly after.
Things to Watch
The box works on this screen alone, and only during the first save. Editing the article later never mails subscribers again, so tick the box before you click Create.
The save is refused when a language tab has no title, and the message names the language. Content may stay empty, a title may not.
The category list is built from what already exists. Set up your blog categories before writing, or the article lands under None and misses the category listings.
Required Privileges
The screen and its save need MANAGE_WEBSITE_OPERATION. Without it the create button is missing from the article list.
