Reseller Settings

Set reseller activation, credit limits, payment restrictions, and base discounts in one place to apply consistent sales rules across every reseller.

Opening the Screen

It opens from the configuration button on the reseller management screen: {admin}/users/reseller-settings

What Is on the Screen

The settings sit in one form. While the reseller system is off, the conditions and discounts below it are shown disabled - they cannot be edited without switching the system on.

System Whether reselling is on across the installation. Off, the Reseller tab on a client record does not appear at all.
Activation Whether you open reselling yourself or it is granted automatically.
Conditions The top-up floor, the credit threshold and the payment restriction. They apply to every reseller and can be overridden per reseller on a client's own card.
Identity verification Which verifications automatic reselling requires.
Discount rates The base rates that apply to every reseller. A client's own rate for a target replaces only that target's base tiers.
Eligible billing cycles Limits reseller discounts to lines billed on the selected cycles, for the base rates and a client's own rates alike. Empty means every cycle. A term counts by its length: 12 months is Annually and a 2-year domain is Biennially, while a term with no matching cycle (4 years, 2 months) gets no reseller discount once cycles are selected.

Manual versus automatic activation

With Manual, you switch activation on in the client's Reseller tab. Clients ask with the Request Reseller Access button, which opens a ticket.

With Automatic, a client becomes a reseller once their active, paid services reach the first tier of a discount target. This is checked at cart and Client API pricing and when a service goes active. The discount applies to that order and the client gets an e-mail.

  • With verification required, every chosen verification must be complete.
  • A client whose reselling you closed is not made a reseller again.
  • The Activity Logs entry names the first target that met its tier and its active service count.
  • The reseller page's text changes with the mode; signed-in clients' button goes to products.

How the conditions apply

The conditions apply only to clients whose reseller account is active. A condition filled on the reseller's own card wins; a condition left empty there uses the value set here. Amounts are converted to the reseller's currency before they are compared.

A filled Minimum Credit Load replaces the Account Balance module's Minimum Amount to Add for resellers adding funds. It applies even when it is lower than the module's amount.

When Credit Threshold is filled, no reseller discount applies while the reseller's balance is below it. This holds in the cart, Client API orders, panel orders, and renewal and upgrade invoices. The reseller account stays open, and the discount applies again once the balance reaches the threshold.

With Payment Method Restriction on, a reseller's payment step offers only Account Balance, with a note saying why. Paying invoices and orders created from the panel are outside this restriction. If the Account Balance module is off, the restriction does not apply.

Discount tiers

Under Reseller Discount Rates, a rate is set for all products, a product group, a category, a product or an addon. The narrower one overrides the wider. A category also covers its sub-categories, and Uncategorized covers a group's products that sit in no category.

Each target holds one or more tiers. A tier sets a range of services under Service Quantity and its Discount Rate (%). The count is taken at the target's level. An order counts every service that is not cancelled; a renewal or upgrade counts active services only. Leave the end of the range empty for no upper limit; the box then shows ∞. A rate takes up to two decimals, such as 12.25.

Fields

Reseller System The program's main switch. Off, the sections beneath it cannot be edited.
Unpaid Invoices Appears under the main switch while the system is off, if an unpaid invoice still carries a reseller discount. Ticked, saving removes the discount from those invoices and recalculates their totals.
Reseller Activation Manual by default.
Non-Member Reseller Page On, the reseller landing page can be read without signing in.
Minimum Credit Load The least a reseller may top up at once. At 0 the Account Balance module's amount applies.
Top-up limit currency The currency of the amount above.
Credit Threshold The balance a reseller needs for reseller discounts. Below it the reseller pays undiscounted prices; at 0 there is no threshold.
Threshold currency The currency of the amount above.
Payment Method Restriction On, resellers pay for their orders from their account balance only. Invoice payments are outside this restriction.
Identity Verification Whether automatic reselling requires verification; e-mail, phone and any defined document filters are chosen separately.
API Service On, every active reseller can use the Client API, even while it is closed to other clients. A client made a reseller automatically gets it at once.
Reseller Discount Rates Optional. The tier rows of each target: a Service Quantity range and a rate. An empty end has no upper limit; a rate takes two decimals.

Tasks

Open the reseller program

  1. Switch the reseller system on; the sections beneath it become editable at that moment.
  2. Choose the activation mode and set the credit conditions.
  3. Save. The Reseller tab starts appearing on client records.

Close the reseller program

  1. Switch the reseller system off. If unpaid invoices still carry a reseller discount, the Unpaid Invoices box appears, already ticked.
  2. Leave it ticked to remove the discount from those invoices, or untick it to keep the discount.
  3. Click Save Changes. The message tells how many invoices changed, and each invoice's history shows its old and new total.

If the system is already off and old invoices still carry the discount, the box appears unticked. Tick it and save to remove the discount.

Require verification for reselling

  1. In the identity verification section, make verification required.
  2. Choose what is asked for: e-mail, phone, and any document filters that are defined.
  3. Save. An unverified client is not made a reseller automatically; you can still open reselling by hand.

Set the base discount rates

  1. Under Reseller Discount Rates, click Add Discount and choose the level in Select Level.
  2. Choose the target in the picker that opens, then click Add Discount beside it.
  3. In the target's row, enter the Service Quantity range and the rate. Add more tiers with Add Discount Rate.
  4. Click Save Changes. The rates apply to resellers' purchases, renewals and upgrades from then on.

Things to Watch

Switching the system off hides the tab

With the reseller system off, the Reseller tab appears on no client at all. Nothing is deleted, only made unreachable; switching the system back on leaves everything as it was.

An unticked box leaves the discount payable

A reseller discount is fixed on an invoice when the invoice is created. Saved with the box unticked, unpaid invoices keep it and the client can still pay the discounted total. Paid and formalized invoices are not changed.

The credit threshold also leaves renewals undiscounted

The threshold is checked when a price is calculated. For a reseller whose balance is below it, renewal and upgrade invoices created at that moment are also issued without the discount. The reseller sees a warning about this in their own panel, with a link to add funds. When you create an order from the panel, the Reseller badge also appears in the warning colour.

A client's card overrides the base target by target

A rate defined on a reseller's own card replaces the base tiers of that same target only. Every other base rate still applies to that reseller. Changing a base rate affects every reseller without a rate of their own for that target.

A first tier at 0 makes every client a reseller

In automatic mode, a first tier of 0 makes every client who opens their cart a reseller, even an empty cart. To avoid that, start the first tier at 1 or above. Requiring verification limits it to verified clients.

Required Privileges
