Social Sign-in

2.3k visualizações Markdown

Let clients sign in and register with an account they already have. Google, Apple, Microsoft and other providers replace another password to remember.

Opening the Screen

Open Settings › General, then choose the Social Sign-in tab: {admin}/settings?general=socialauth. The tab appears only when at least one provider module is present on the server.

What Is on the Screen

A row per provider, with its logo, name and a one-line status. Opening a row closes any other one that was open.

Shown on the sign-in screenThe switch is on, and every required field is filled.
Turned on, but its credentials are incompleteThe switch is on, a required field is not. A Needs credentials mark appears next to the row.
Configured, but not turned on yetEvery required field is filled, but the switch is off.
Not configured yetNeither the switch nor the required fields have been set.

An open row shows its Redirect URI, the provider's own credential fields, its setup steps, and Check settings and Save.

Fields

StatusThe switch in the row header. Saves the instant you flip it, along with every field already typed into that provider's form.
Redirect URIRead-only, with a copy button. Add it to the provider's own console before you save the credentials.
CredentialsThe fields the provider itself asks for — a client ID, a secret, or similar. A saved secret shows as a mask; leaving it as-is keeps the stored value.

Tasks

Turn on a provider

  1. Open the provider's row and copy its Redirect URI into that provider's own console.
  2. Follow the numbered setup steps shown in the row, then paste the credentials the console gives back into the fields.
  3. Save, then switch the row on. Its status becomes Shown on the sign-in screen.

Test before you save

  1. Fill in the provider's fields.
  2. Click Check settings. It checks what is currently typed, even if unsaved.
  3. Fix and retry on failure; save once it passes.

Things to Watch

The switch saves the whole form

Turning a provider on or off posts every field in its row, not the switch alone. An unsaved credential change is saved along with it.

On does not mean shown

A provider can be on with a required field left empty. Its button only reaches the sign-in screen once the switch is on and every required field is filled.

Check settings checks what's typed, not what's saved

It is a preliminary check of what you typed; confirm that sign-in works with a real sign-in.

Existing clients are linked by email address

A client who already has an account signs in with the provider account that uses the same email address. The first sign-in links the two; there is no separate linking step.

If no account uses the provider's address, the client sees No account was found for this email address. followed by that address in brackets. The client chooses the provider account with the right address, or signs in with their email and password.

Signing in at checkout

The provider buttons on the checkout page also serve new clients. If no account is linked yet, one is created and the client returns to the order. Profile fields you made required, such as the phone number, are asked for first.

With Sign-up off or Require a purchase to register on, no account is created there. The client is pointed to Create one on the same card, and the account opens with the order.

The provider window expires after ten minutes

A sign-in attempt must finish within ten minutes of the provider window opening. A later return is refused with Your verification session expired. Please sign in again.; the client clicks the provider button again.

Button wording and language

The Google button follows the page language, for example Continuar com Google on a Portuguese page. To change its wording, search for the button text under Languages → Find and Replace.

The Apple and Microsoft buttons use their own wording, which comes in English and Turkish only.

Required Privileges

Opening Settings › General, and saving or testing a provider, needs SETTINGS_INFORMATIONS_CONFIGURE.
