# Creating a Product Group

https://docs.wisecp.com/pt-br/creating-a-product-group

Creating a Product Group gives you a separate catalogue section, apart from Hosting, Server, Software, and International SMS. It has its own categories, products, and settings.

## Opening the Screen

Open **Product Management** in the sidebar, pick **Product Groups**, and click **Create New Product Group** above the list: `{admin}/products/group/add`

To change an existing group later, open its row's action menu on [Product Groups](https://docs.wisecp.com/en/product-groups) and choose **Edit**. The same form opens, filled in with the group's saved values.

## What Is on the Screen

A single form. A language tab strip runs above it: your site's default language is required. You can open or remove any other active language from the same strip.

## Fields

- **Title**: The group's name, shown to customers. Required in your site's default language.
- **URL Structure**: The web address for the group's catalogue page, one per language. Suggested from the title; you can change it.
- **Short Description**: A short line shown with the title on the catalogue page. Optional.
- **Status**: Enabled or Disabled. A disabled group is removed from the catalogue, so customers can no longer find or buy any of its products through normal browsing.
- **Hidden**: Removes the group from menus and search while its page stays reachable by direct link.
- **Listing Template**: Box List or Horizontal List. Horizontal List adds a Columns builder for table headings, such as Price or Storage, that products will fill in later. Categories in the group that have no listing template of their own, such as those a product module creates during import, use this template and these columns.
- **Group Color**: An accent colour for the group.
- **Group Icon**: A Bootstrap icon, or an uploaded image, shown next to the group's name.
- **Payment Gateways**: Optionally restrict this group's products to a set of payment methods, by choosing methods to enable or to disable. Leave both empty to use the site's defaults.
- **External HTML Code**: Custom HTML you can embed on the group's catalogue page. Optional; incomplete code can break the page. JavaScript and form tags are removed when you save. Embedded frames are kept only from Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, Yandex Maps, YouTube and Vimeo.
- **Background Image**: A banner image shown at the top of the group's catalogue page. Optional.
- **Frequently Asked Questions**: A list of question-and-answer entries shown on the catalogue page, per language. Optional.
- **Search Engine Optimization (SEO)**: A search title, description, and an indexing switch for each language, at the bottom of the form.

### Where the Title and Short Description Appear

Customers see both on the group's catalogue page. The place depends on the group's categories.

- **Group Without Categories**: Both appear at the top of the page. The product list gets a general heading, such as **Choose Your Plan**.
- **Category Address**: Categories without sub-categories are tabs, and the top of the page shows the open one. The group's Title and Short Description become the heading above the product list.
- **Group Address**: Both appear at the top of the page, even though the first category's tab is open. The product list gets the general heading.

An empty Short Description is replaced by a general line on the category address.

## Tasks

### Creating the Group

1. Fill in the **Title**, at least in your site's default language.
2. Set any of the other fields you need, then click **Create** at the bottom of the form.
3. The group is created, and its own, empty product list opens so you can add categories and products.

### Editing a Group Later

1. Open the group's row menu on [Product Groups](https://docs.wisecp.com/en/product-groups) and choose **Edit**.
2. Change any field and click **Save Changes**; the group's address only changes if you edit its URL Structure.
3. An **Order Upgrades** option also appears once the group is saved, letting clients move up to a higher plan within it.

## Things to Watch

> **Only your own catalogue changes**
>
> Creating a group here never changes Hosting, Server, Software, or International SMS. Those keep their own separate settings.

> **Addresses must be unique**
>
> If the address you pick for a language is already used by another page, saving fails until you choose a different one.

## Required Privileges

Opening this screen to create a new group needs Edit (`PRODUCTS_GROUP_OPERATION`) on product groups. Opening an existing group to edit it only needs View (`PRODUCTS_GROUP_LOOK`); saving changes still needs Edit.
