# Dynadot

Connect Dynadot to handle domain orders and help customers manage their domains through WISECP.

## Accessing the Screen

Open **Products → Domains → Domain Name Registrars → All Modules → Dynadot**: `{admin}/module/registrars?module=Dynadot`.

## What Is on the Screen

**Module Settings** connects your account. **Import** lists existing domains; **Import Extensions** requests extension costs.

### Preparing the Dynadot Account

1. Sign in to Dynadot and open **Tools → API**. Unlock the account using the link on that page.
2. Copy the **Production Key**. WISECP uses the legacy JSON API; it does not request the RESTful Secret Key.
3. Enter the WISECP server’s outbound IP address under **IP Address** and click **Set IP Address**. Allow at least ten minutes for changes.
4. Keep enough account credit for purchases. See the [API settings guide](https://www.dynadot.com/help/question/find-API-settings) and [API overview](https://www.dynadot.com/domain/api).

## Settings

- ****API Key****: Required; initially empty. Enter the Production Key from your Dynadot account.
- ****Default Nameservers****: Four initially empty fields. The first two have required markers. Without both, service defaults use the system nameservers.
- ****Automatic Cost Updates****: Off by default. Enables scheduled cost updates. Confirm extension names and currency before enabling it.
- ****Cost Currency****: Check the initial selection. Match the provider’s returned currency; this module does not request a currency conversion.

## Tasks

### Connecting and Testing

1. Enter the key in **Module Settings**.
2. Click **Test Connection** beside **Save Changes**. The test requests the domain list without purchasing a domain.
3. Check the result, then click **Save Changes**. Reopen the form to confirm the settings. No separate server record is needed.

### Assigning Extensions and Prices

1. Open **Import Extensions** and compare its names and costs with Dynadot.
2. If an extension name is incomplete, do not import it. Use **Products → Domains → Add Extension** instead.
3. In the domain extension list, select **Dynadot** under **Registrar** and click **Update Extensions**.
4. Open the row’s **Pricing** window. Check registration, transfer and renewal prices, then click **Save Changes**. Verify the saved registrar and prices.

If the import preview is correct, select extensions and click its **Import** button. Existing extensions can also receive updated costs and selling prices.

### Importing Existing Domains

1. Create the required extensions first. In Dynadot’s **Import** tab, assign each domain to the correct customer and check its dates.
2. Click **Import**, then inspect the resulting services under **Orders → Services**. Importing creates WISECP services without registering or transferring domains.

### Domain Orders and Synchronization

Registration sends contact details, the selected period and any configured extension requirements. An inbound transfer needs the current registrar’s unlock and EPP code. Renewals use the selected number of years. Synchronization reads domain status and dates; it does not provide a detailed transfer progress history. Check Dynadot before repeating an uncertain order.

### Managing a Domain

Open the domain under **Orders → Services**. **DNS** supports nameserver changes and Dynadot DNS records. Record editing handles the root domain; custom host names and entered TTL values are not sent. Keep subdomain records in Dynadot.

**WHOIS** reads and updates contacts. Shared Dynadot contacts can affect multiple domains. Privacy management depends on the extension and active addon. **Transfer** reads the lock; change the lock in Dynadot. **Get Auth (EPP) Code** requests the authorization code.

Customers manage their own service according to permissions and active addons. This integration does not provide child nameserver management, DNSSEC, separate forwarding screens or expired-domain recovery.

## Things to Consider

> **Live Account and DNS Changes**
> 
> This module has no sandbox switch, although Dynadot offers a sandbox. Purchases use the live account. DNS edits replace the record set and can remove subdomain records. Back up DNS at Dynadot before editing.

> **Troubleshooting**
> 
> For access errors, check the Production Key, outbound IP and API limits. For missing domains or incomplete extension names, compare the provider account before importing. A successful connection test does not validate registration, transfer or renewal. Keep sales disabled until those workflows are verified in an authorized test setup.

## Required Permissions

Setup requires **Domain Name Registrars** permission. Service operations require their corresponding service permissions.
