# Free Domain with a Product

Offer a free domain registration or transfer alongside this product, on the billing cycles and extensions you pick.

## Opening the Screen

Panel menu: **Products**. Open the product's group, then click its name (or the row menu's **Edit** action): `{admin}/products/edit?id={product}`

In the tab strip, click **Free Domain**. A direct link opens it already selected: `{admin}/products/edit?id={product}&configuration=free_domain`

## What Is on the Screen

A short settings form: one choice, one multi-select and one tag field.

## Fields

- **Domain Offer**: **None** by default. **Provide free domain registration/transfer only** covers the first term, at standard renewal rates after. **Provide free domain registration/transfer with complimentary renewal** reads as if it also covers later terms, but both options behave the same way today: only the first order is free, and every domain renewal is billed at the standard rate.
- **Domain Payment Terms**: Which of this product's billing cycles qualify, for example Monthly or Annually. A customer only gets the free domain on one of the cycles ticked here.
- **Eligible Extensions**: Which extensions qualify, without the dot (e.g. com,net,org,biz). Only a domain ending in one of these is covered.

## Tasks

### Set up the free domain offer

1. Open the **Free Domain** tab and choose a **Domain Offer**.
2. Under **Domain Payment Terms**, tick every billing cycle that should qualify.
3. In **Eligible Extensions**, add each extension, then click **Save Changes** at the bottom of the page. It saves every tab on this screen together.

## Things to Watch

> **The offer needs a payment term and an extension to work**
> 
> Choosing an offer alone does not turn it on at checkout. At least one billing cycle and one extension must also be picked, or the free domain never applies.

> **Domain Payment Terms and Eligible Extensions stay editable on None**
> 
> Setting **Domain Offer** back to **None** does not clear the other two fields. They have no effect until an offer is chosen again.

## Required Privileges

Opening this screen needs `PRODUCTS_LOOK` or `PRODUCTS_OPERATION`. Saving changes needs `PRODUCTS_OPERATION`.
