# Client Membership Settings

https://docs.wisecp.com/es/client-membership-settings

Turn client sign-in and registration on or off. Decide which registration fields are required, and add your own custom fields to the form and the client profile.

## Opening the Screen

Open **Settings › General**, then choose the **Clients** tab: `{admin}/settings?general=clients`

## What Is on the Screen

A vertical rail on the left switches between two panels.

### Client Settings

Two cards at the top turn the client area on or off. Below them sit a handful of registration policy switches. Under those, one card per optional registration field follows. Each card has its own on/off switch in its header, and its own options once it is on.

### Custom Fields

A language strip switches which language's fields you are viewing. Each language keeps a separate list: a field created in English does not appear in Turkish until you add it there too. A table lists the fields, with a column of marks for their behaviour. An **Add New Field** button sits below it, with edit and delete actions on each row.

## Fields

### Account Access

- **Sign-in**: Off closes the client area to everyone.
- **Sign-up**: Off stops new accounts from being created.
- **Registration Policies**: Three independent switches. **Require a purchase to register** closes the standalone sign-up page; clients create the account at checkout and it opens once the payment is confirmed. If the payment is taken but the account cannot be created (for example the e-mail was registered in the meantime), the client sees a "Payment Received, Order Pending" page with a reference number instead of an order; the record waits in Tools → Error Logs under the "Guest checkout" signature and you attach the order by that reference. **Let clients change their name** and **Capitalize names on signup** round out the group.
- **Ask for account type**: Adds an Individual/Company choice to the signup form. Its own sub-option, **Client can change it later**, decides whether the choice can be edited afterward.
- **Sub-accounts per client**: How many sub-accounts one client account may hold; pending invitations count. Applies to the client area, the panel and the API alike. 0 removes the limit.

### Registration Form Fields

Each card below is a field the client sees only once its header switch is on. The options inside only take effect while the switch is on.

- **Email address**: Always on the form. **Verify the address** sends a confirmation link before the account opens; **Client can edit** lets it be changed later.
- **Mobile phone**: Switch adds it to the form. **Required**, **Verify by SMS**, **Block duplicates** (the same number cannot be used on two accounts) and **Client can edit**.
- **Landline**: Switch adds it to the form. **Required**, **Block duplicates** and **Client can edit**.
- **Date of birth**: Switch adds it to the form. **Required**, **Must be 18 or older** (rejects registration below the age limit) and **Client can edit**.
- **National ID**: Switch adds it to the form for every client, whatever their country. **Required** and **Client can edit**. The field is deliberately generic: clients enter whatever identifier their own country issues (SSN, DNI, BSN, Steuer-ID and so on).
- **Security question**: Switch adds it to the form. **Required**.

### Custom Field Properties

**Add New Field** asks for a name and an answer type: Text, Text Area, Select Box, Check Box or Radio. Select Box, Check Box and Radio also show an **Options** box for their comma-separated choices. Six marks control where the field appears. **Show**, **Required**, **Client Cannot Edit**, **Hide from Client**, **Show on Invoice** and **Show on Sign Up Form**. The list shows the same six as icon columns with a check or a cross.

## Tasks

### Close the client area temporarily

1. Turn **Sign-in** and, if new orders should also stop, **Sign-up** off.
2. Save. Existing client records are untouched — clients cannot reach or create an account until you turn the switch back on.

### Add a custom field to registration

1. Open the **Custom Fields** panel and pick the language you are adding the field for.
2. Click **Add New Field**, name it, and choose an answer type (add the choices in Options if it needs them).
3. Tick the marks the field needs — for example Required and Show on Sign Up Form — and save.
4. Repeat for any other active language; the field does not carry over on its own.

## Things to Watch

> **Sign-in off locks out every client**
>
> The client area closes for everyone at once, immediately after you save.

> **Unverified clients stay confined**
>
> While the address is unverified the client sees only Account Settings and Support. Other pages and actions in the panel are refused until the confirmation link or code is used. New people who accept an invitation follow the same rule.

> **Hide from Client wins over Required**
>
> A field marked both is never shown or asked for. Hiding always wins, even on the sign-up form.

> **Custom fields are per language**
>
> Deleting a field's row removes it only for that language; the same field in another language is untouched.

## Required Privileges

Opening **Settings › General** needs `SETTINGS_INFORMATIONS_CONFIGURE`. Viewing and saving the Clients tab additionally needs `SETTINGS_MEMBERSHIP_CONFIGURE`.
