# NameSilo

Connect NameSilo to WISECP to sell domains and let customers manage their domain settings from their service details.

## Opening the Screen

Open **Products → Domains → Domain Name Registrars → All Modules → NameSilo**: `{admin}/module/registrars?module=NameSilo`.

## What Is on the Screen

**Module Settings** holds API and purchase options. **Import** lists existing domains; **Import Extensions** lists extension costs.

### Prepare the provider account

1. Open a NameSilo account. In **My Account → API Manager**, generate your API key. If you restrict API access by IP, allow your WISECP server’s outgoing IP.
2. Keep enough account funds or a verified payment method for domain purchases. A payment ID identifies a card at NameSilo.
3. Request separate sandbox access from NameSilo support before testing. Sandbox credentials are separate from your live API key.

## Settings

- ****Test Mode****: Off by default. Selects sandbox access and switches the visible API key field.
- ****API Key****: Required in live mode; initially empty. Enter the key from API Manager.
- ****Sandbox API Key****: Required in test mode; initially empty. Enter the separate key supplied for sandbox access.
- ****Payment ID****: Optional; initially empty. Identifies a verified NameSilo card. When omitted, NameSilo attempts payment using account funds.
- ****Coupon Code****: Optional; initially empty. Sent with domain registration, transfer and renewal. Provider eligibility determines whether it applies.
- ****Auto-Renew****: Off by default. Sets NameSilo auto-renew on new registrations and transfers. It does not replace WISECP renewal billing.
- ****Default Nameservers****: Four initially empty, optional entries. The first two carry required markers. Without both, service defaults use system nameservers.
- ****Automatic Cost Updates****: Off by default. Enables scheduled provider cost updates.
- ****Cost Currency****: Match the currency of the provider’s returned costs. Verify the installation’s initial selection before importing prices.

## Tasks

### Connect and test

1. In **Module Settings**, enable **Test Mode** and enter the sandbox key.
2. Click **Test Connection** beside **Save Changes**. The check lists domains; it does not purchase one.
3. On success, click **Save Changes**. Confirm that reopening the form retains your selected mode.
4. For live use, clear **Test Mode**, enter the live key, test and save. No separate server record is needed.

### Import the catalogue and existing domains

1. Open **Import Extensions**, select the extensions and click its **Import** button.
2. Under **Products → Domains**, review registrar assignments and sale prices. Import may update existing extensions with the configured profit rate.
3. For domains already at NameSilo, open **Import**, assign customers and review dates, then click **Import**.
4. Verify the resulting service’s customer and expiry. This creates a local service without registering or transferring the domain.

### Register, transfer and renew

Assign each sold extension to NameSilo. Complete the registrant profile, extension-specific requirements and nameservers before registration. Transfer requires the losing registrar’s unlock and EPP code. WISECP tracks an accepted transfer until completion. Renewal sends the requested years to NameSilo. Before retrying a failed-looking purchase, inspect the provider order and service expiry.

### Manage a domain

Open the domain under **Orders → Services**. **DNS** supports nameserver changes, child nameserver add/edit/delete and A, AAAA, MX, CNAME and TXT records. New records need a TTL of at least 3600 seconds. DNSSEC supports listing, adding and deleting DS records.

**WHOIS** reads the provider contacts and updates the registrant profile. **Transfer** controls locking. Its **Get Auth (EPP) Code** button asks NameSilo to email the owner; it does not display the code.

**Domain Forwarding** supports adding/changing and cancelling a web redirect. **Email Forwarding** supports listing, adding, editing and deleting forwards. Use NameSilo’s authoritative DNS for hosted DNS and forwarding services.

Customers use their own domain’s service details, subject to permissions and enabled addons. DNS management and privacy may require an active addon. Status and expiry synchronization are supported. Redemption restore is not implemented by this module.

## Things to Watch

> **Two renewal systems**
> 
> NameSilo auto-renew can spend provider funds independently of a WISECP invoice. Coordinate both renewal settings. Changing the module option does not rewrite every existing domain’s provider preference.

> **Verify before selling**
> 
> Use an authorized sandbox domain for registration, transfer, renewal and management checks. A connection test alone cannot verify these. NameSilo’s free privacy does not determine the price of your WISECP privacy addon.

## Privileges

**Domain Name Registrars** is required for setup. Service operations require the appropriate service permissions.
